He'd Sooner Be in California!!!

Oct. 10, 2011 - PRLog -- Ventura, CA- Steven Plantenberg, one of Ventura County's best players graduated from Adolfo Camarillo High School in 2008. He chose to take a different path compared to most athletes his age. He chose to get better, and made a decision to train with Brandon Cochran who is now the Head Skill Development Trainer at Optimum Basketball based out of Camarillo, CA. Steven graduated at age 17 and moved  to the bay area to begin his basketball training. Although he was a tremendous player at 6'4" he lacked the physical size to compete and standout at the Division One level.

Did he just sit out or give up like he very easily could have? No he did not. He chose to train for 2 years and got a full ride scholarship to Murray State. He now has 2 years of training with former Pro and college standout Brandon Cochran. "Steven has a tremendous work ethic and a determination to succeed. He has a charisma for life, and passion for the game that makes him a very fun player to watch," Cochran said. "He will be a great fit at Ventura College this year, and they are very lucky to have such a great shooter, leader, and athlete on the team.

Steven grew up in Camarillo, CA spending the first 17 years of his life playing in every basketball league and worked on his game as much as he could. After graduating in 2008, and seeing just how far he has come as a person and as a basketball player, Plantenberg said, " I'm glad I made the tough choice, not going directly to college and decided to train with Brandon. He helped me develop into a man, and helped give me the mentality to push through tough times." Steven will be a dominant force in the Western States Conference this year. " I am glad to be playing in California again, and playing in the Midwest was quite different," Plantenberg said," I now have the experience and knowledge to do very well this upcoming year."

Optimum Basketball is proud to be training such a great player, and someone who has a great work ethic. "My game has gone to another level after training at Optimum," Plantenberg said. " I feel incredibly prepared for the college season, and they do a great job of encouraging us to do well in school because after all we are Student-Athletes."
