The festival will be held Saturday, September 3, 2011 from 12 noon to 4 p.m. Attendees will enjoy free food, fun and games including a hula-hoop contest and jump rope contest. Free blood pressure, glucose and BMI assessments will be provided as well as free school supplies, health promotion giveaways, Allen’s Food sponsored food basket giveaways and other prizes. The Wellness Café will offer smoothie tastings as well as sampling of tasty healthy baked goods. In addition to mini massages, a number of mini holistic health presentations will be provided with opportunities to ask several nutrition and health promotion experts coaching questions. The message of obesity prevention through movement will be reinforced with the group hustle dance, led by Dr. Velonda and yoga led by Detroit, Michigan Yoga expert Claudette Bond, RYT.
