South Florida Affiliate Of Susan G. Komen for the Cure Selects Miami-Based Healthcare Marketing Firm

Aug. 23, 2011 - PRLog -- The South Florida Affiliate of Susan G. Komen for the Cure®, the world’s largest non-profit organization supporting the fight against breast cancer, selected The Weinbach Group to handle its public relations and marketing communications. The Miami-based firm won the account in a competitive bidding process based on its track record of success with other non-profits and its expertise working with healthcare and healthcare-related clients.

Among its first challenges, The Weinbach Group has been asked to raise awareness about the Komen South Florida Affiliate’s funding for free breast cancer detection and treatment services for uninsured and underinsured women. “Everyone knows about the Race for the Cure. It’s our signature event and a huge success. However, lots of people here in South Florida don’t realize that 75% of the money we raise stays right here in our community. We use that money to fund dozens of providers who deliver free services to women who couldn’t otherwise access care,” said David Ragsdale, President of the Affiliate’s Board of Directors.

The Weinbach Group will utilize publicity, media sponsorships, as well as social media and non-traditional communications to publicize the availability of grants for mammography and breast cancer treatment. In addition, the South Florida Affiliate hopes the increased awareness about the organization’s local impact will inspire more individuals and corporate sponsors to turn out for the annual Race for the Cure®, as well as other events during the year.
