Aug. 21, 2011 - PRLog -- Onward Promotions added the newly formed New Jersey based pop/rock singing trio, Heartsville, as openers for the The Motels concert in Newton, NJ at the Newton Theatre on September 10th. The concert is part of the theatre's Grand Opening Weekend.

"We thought it would be nice touch to add some local New Jersey talent to this historic weekend for the town of Newton, NJ", said Melinda Cain of Onward Promotions.  "We've seen and heard these singers perform live and are excited to have them as part of what promises to be an evening of great music."

Kimberly Andersen of East Brunswick, Matt Holley of Hopewell, and Dee Dee Miles of Hamilton complete the New Jersey based pop/rock trio.

Although they’ve sung classical music together for years, the experience of singing pop music in concerts inspired them to find other opportunities to perform with each other.   Over the past two years, the trio, along with other members of the symphonic choir Princeton Pro Musica, performed with rock/pop icon Todd Rundgren during several of his "Healing" album shows.  “We had such a great time singing with Todd, and the three of us have always sung pop music, so we’re really enjoying this new project,” said Dee Dee Miles.

While Andersen and Miles cover a range of octaves, they are both alto singers; Holley is a low bass singer. The two women have also found collaborators in each other and are writing original songs for the group.

“We have similar ranges but different sounds, which is what makes it interesting,” Andersen said of the singing group. “Dee Dee and Matt have a lot of energy and great senses of humor, and that translates well on stage.”

During the concert, audience members can expect to hear songs in different styles of pop music with harmony singing on each one. Heartsville’s musical performances incorporate the use of piano, guitar, congas, harmonica, autoharp and djemb (African drum).

“We’re thrilled to be on the bill with The Motels -- Martha Davis has one of the most distinctive voices in 80’s music and pop in general,” said Miles.

The Motels are a New Wave music band from the Los Angeles area best known for "Only the Lonely" and "Suddenly Last Summer", each of which peaked at #9 on the Billboard Hot 100 in 1982 and 1983, respectively. Their song "Total Control" reached number 4 on the Australian charts in 1980.

On August 9th of this year, The Motels lost album Apocalypso, which was recorded 30 years ago, was released by Omnivore Recordings.  Motels singer Martha Davis plans to take the album to the next level during their upcoming live performances.  She recently informed her fans on facebook.com,  "We will be doing an Apocalypso centric set back east, (don't worry you'll get your hits) and we will feature Marty Jourard (original sax and keys)".

Owners Jonathan Peirce and Paul Larena recently purchased The Newton Theatre at 234 Spring Street and have refurbished it.  Their goal was to return the theatre to its original splendor and serve as Sussex County’s largest full-time Performing Arts Center presenting Concerts, Comedy, Theatre, Dance and Film.

“Newton is right on the edge of a renaissance similar to Morristown was a few short years ago, and we believe the Theatre can be an important component”, said Peirce, who resides in Sparta.

They have extensive experience in theatre restoration, most recently at the Mayo Center for the Performing Arts in Morristown. They also own 5 Point Event Production Services, which provides technical and production support to many of the world’s top artists and corporations. Larena, of East Hanover adds, “We are very excited to be coming to Newton and bringing world-class talent to the community.”
