Aug. 25, 2011 - PRLog -- Caves, Cannons, and Crinolines is the story of one girl and her family’s daily struggle to survive a changing way of life during the American Civil War. It is a story of fear, courage, and understanding that people, no matter where they live, have the same needs: love, peace, and security.

Based on historical facts, the book will be a nice addition to history classes to show teens how the Civil War affected people their age, as well as their families. For history fans, Caves provides a look at the siege of Vicksburg, Mississippi, one of the turning points in the Civil War. The novel is also a tender romance between a Northern boy and Southern girl that will appeal to young women who enjoy a story about first love.

Wayne S. Walker, reviewer for Home School Book Review, says: “Beverly Stowe McClure … does a great job of presenting the Civil War for teenagers from both Southern and Northern viewpoints. There is no bad language or, for that matter, much to which anyone would object… Caves, Cannons, and Crinolines would make a good historical fiction supplementary reading in connection with any study of the Civil War, especially the capture of Vicksburg.

Caves, Cannons, and Crinolines is also a finalist in Dan Poynters Global eBook Awards, teen fiction division.
