Warhol Basquiat Portrait by Greg Furie

Greg Furie, known for his automatic paintings & drawings, does a rare Andy Warhol Jean Michel Basquiat portrait painting.
Aug. 20, 2011 - PRLog -- I know what you're thinking.  So what.  It's just another attempt by an unknown artist to do a portrait of famous people to get some publicity.  Well, your right!  But the odd thing about this painting portrait of Andy Warhol & Jean Michel Basquiat is that it was done by Greg Furie, known for his abstract and automatic paintings and drawings.

The truth of the matter is is that Greg Furie has done thousands of automatic and abstract paintings with out doing one portrait, let alone a portrait painting of two of the most famous artists of the 20th century!

When asked about the portrait Furie humbly states, "my lines are bold which makes my interpretation unique.  I wanted to try my style of art on a painting portrait of two of my favorite 20th century artists.  I think the result is a wonderful success and basically what I expected from myself.  Lines carry with them emotions & feelings, so even though my portrait of Warhol & Basquiat isn't proportionally perfect, the emotional character of each artist is drawn out by my bold lines.  Of course the proof is in the pudding, so take a look for yourself."

I think it is safe to say that we'll be seeing more famous portrait painting from Mr. Furie in the upcoming months.
