CBS News Affiliate Utilizes the IAQ Video Network’s Legionella Video

Aug. 17, 2011 - PRLog -- This week, WRBL, a CBS affiliate from Georgia, reported about the death of a man caused by Legionnaires’ disease.  Army officials from the Redstone Arsenal in Huntsville, Alabama, are conducting tests following the man’s death.  In their latest news report from last night, WRBL used parts of an online educational video produced by the IAQ Video Network during the evening news broadcast.

“Yesterday we were contacted by the WRBL and asked if we would share parts of a recent online video created to educate the public about the risks associated with Legionella bacteria,” reported Paul Cochrane, President of Cochrane and Associates, the company behind the IAQ Video Network and the Legionella video.   “We were delighted to share this important information.  The video was also sponsored by several prominent names in the indoor air quality industry, including EMSL Analytical, UltraViolet Devices, EC2 and Clark Seif Clark.”

Legionnaires' disease is caused by a type of bacteria called Legionella. Each year, between 8,000 and 18,000 people are hospitalized with Legionnaires' disease in the U.S. However, many infections are not diagnosed or reported, so this number may be higher. More illness is usually found in the summer and early fall, but it can happen any time of year.

Legionnaires' disease can have symptoms like many other forms of pneumonia, so it can be hard to diagnose at first. Signs of the disease can include: a high fever, chills, and a cough. Some people may also suffer from muscle aches and headaches.
