Producer Mitcheal Toles who is already an award-winning philanthropist is giving back to the immediate community by donating a percentage of proceeds from the event and auction to Heartfelt Cardiac Projects and the OC Fallen Firefighters Relief Fund. “I am very grateful for the response from the businesses that support Pyrate Daze either directly or indirectly. The positive response has been amazing,” Toles said in a recent interview. “It’
s nice to know that there are a lot of companies out there with a social conscience. We did not expect to get this much support so soon after the markets dropped on Wall Street.” Notable contributors to the auction are highlighted by Best Party Ever, owned and operated by Brian Danner (voted Nickelodeon’
s #1 Parents Picks – Child Entertainer and LA Parent Magazines Best Party Entertainers)
, Studio City Tattoo (owned and operated by Clay Clement voted #1 Tattoo Parlor in Los Angeles 5 years in a row by City Search and voted Best Shop in LA by Fox LA) and legendary sword smith Tony Swatton whose work is prominently visible in the Disney POTC franchise as well as X-MEN: THE LAST STAND, CONSTANTINE, THE DEVIL’S REJECTS, BLADE, HELLBOY and too many other popular films and television projects to mention in just one sitting. Other auction items include an 11 carat diamond pave bracelet, LPO Perfumes and a cruise to the Bahamas courtesy of Celebration Cruise Lines. Pyrate Daze has also received product donations from smaller companies including Lisa Kasper’s Blue Moon Candles and Mimi L. Poor’s AlcheMystic Amulets. “We have always supported local artists and artisans.” Toles confided. “I’m a pyrate. I like discovering new treasures.” Local restaurants including Jasper’s Bar and Grill, Teriyaki Jet and The Olde Ship have also stepped up to the plate, so to speak. And, the list continues to grow as we approach opening day.
About Heartfelt Cardiac Projects: Sudden Cardiac Arrest (SCA) claims the lives of over 450,000 Americans each year* and is the #1 killer in the U.S. SCA can result in the death of individuals who may or may not know of pre-existing heart conditions. Heartfelt Cardiac Projects provides cardiac screening in order to save lives from preventable tragedies due to Sudden Cardiac Arrest (SCA). Echocardiograms (ECHO-cardiac ultrasound) and Electrocardiograms (ECG/EKG) are offered for a nominal tax deductible donation, per screening. Echocardiograms and Electrocardiograms can typically cost $1,500.00. If you’ve lost your job and your insurance (and many people have) then you know how impossible this expense is if you’re trying to support a family. Many individuals with heart conditions experience no symptoms and many insurance providers will not cover the cost of these exams. Families can be screened for a tax deductible donation not to exceed $85 per person. In a country where health insurance is too expensive now for the average family struggling to survive in this Recession, access to a screening can mean the difference between life and death.
