Aug. 16, 2011 - PRLog -- The success story for Swemee started two years ago when a group of young entrepreneurs from Jonkoping International Business School in Jonkoping, Sweden started the business as a part of the group project for one of their courses. Their idea was to supply businesses with bicycle seat covers as a tool to advertise them. The catch behind was that bicycle is a very popular mean of transportation in Sweden, and to provide potential customers with bicycle seat covers with imprinted ads will serve two purposes simultaneously: first, will protect the seat of the bike from getting wet in rainy Scandinavian weather, and secondly, will certainly catch an eye of the bike owners and those who pass by parking lots for bikes. The offering was an instant success, and besides getting offers from Swedish companies, Swemee supplied companies and organizations abroad. Among them were University of Melbourne, and Kaos Europe, a British marketing agency whose current customers are Paul Frank and Skullcandy.

Since then the range of Swemee’s offerings increased significantly, and now counts up to a hundred promotional items. However, now the company wants to go back to where it all started from. Urte Pudzemyte, Managing Director at Swemee, explains the details: “With fall approaching, and rainy season being just around the corner, we decided to go all-in with what appears to be the most sensible move right now. Bicycle seat covers have already proved to be great advertising tool for companies, it is very visual and bright, at the same time it helps people as wet bike seats are a constant problem for those who use bikes on day-to-day basis. Our goal for now is to target world’s top biking cities.”

According to Virgin Vacations, among the top biking-friendly cities are, from top to bottom, Amsterdam, Portland (Oregon, USA), Copenhagen, Boulder (Colorado, USA), Davis (California, USA), Sandnes (Norway), Trondheim (Norway), San Francisco, Berlin, Barcelona, and Basel. Swemee’s plans are to contact municipalities of those cities and offer their products directly to them as municipalities have better access channels to local businesses. Targeting foreign destinations, Swemee is not forgetting about its primary location of operation. The company hopes to get an attention of Swedish cities with high student population such as Uppsala, Lund, Umea, and Jonkoping.
