DJ John Dudley Entertainment Joins Cradles to Crayons in Helping 27,500 Local Kids In-Need

Aug. 15, 2011 - PRLog -- On Friday, August 12, 2011, Chelsea-based DJ John Dudley Entertainment joined Brighton-based Cradles to Crayons in its 5th Annual Backpack-A-Thon, which took place on City Hall Plaza in Boston.  

Cradles to Crayons is an innovative non-profit serving local children in need, and its Backpack-A-Thon event was set this year under two enormous tents on the plaza, under which more than 500 volunteers  assembled mountains of backpacks for in-need school aged children across Greater Boston and the Commonwealth. Event volunteers and supporters came from organizations such as the Boston Bruins Foundation, Citizens Bank, Staples, Baupost Group, the Highland Street Foundation, New Balance, Bertucci’s, and countless others.

DJ John Dudley Entertainment was fortunate to be able once again to lend a hand to such a worthwhile cause and an incredible display of volunteerism and teamwork. The entertainment company’s founder and lead entertainer, John Dudley, helped motivate volunteers in stuffing more than 27,500 backpacks with age appropriate school supplies and personalized notes for local underprivileged school children, wishing them success in the coming school year – and the volunteer army accomplished this feat in less than three hours.

“I am always honored to be part of Cradles to Crayons events. I share a personal connection to the organization. At the Backpack-A-Thon, I love having fun with the crowd, seeing them bop and sing along to the music as they work away,” said Dudley. “This year, about an hour after I had announced to the crowd that they had reached the 10,000 pack mark, I got on the microphone and said, ‘Attention, everyone, great news: You’ve just hit the one million mark,’ which got a huge response from the crowd! I look forward to supporting Lynn [Margherio, founder of Cradles of Crayons] and everyone else at next year’s event.”

Cradles to Crayons is the official non-profit partner of DJ John Dudley Entertainment. The entertainment company has been providing professional in-kind music and emcee services for Cradles to Crayons events, including the Cradles’ annual Backpack-A-Thon and annual Un-Gala, for several years now.
