August 12, 2011: This Independence Day, colours on the canvases and brush strokes could not have delight-ably become more “vibrant” as four contemporary artists; Rohit Sharma, Pankaj Nigam, Naval Kishore and specially-abled Pradeep Tarei converged at PBC Art Gallery to paint live and the display of their artworks at a group art show namely ‘Vibrant Brushes’ at Paharpur Business Centre at Nehru Place.
The event was inaugurated by Padmashri Shovana Narayan, one of India’s most celebrated artiste of Kathak and former IAS Officer; Rajeev Lochan, Director, National Gallery of Modern Art (NGMA), New Delhi and art education specialist; Radhika Shrinagesh, an artist, art curator, and art consultant. Apart from these eminent dignitaries, ambassadors and art connoisseurs graced the occasion by their presence.
Mr. Kamal Meattle, CEO, Paharpur Business Centre & Software Technology Incubator Park, guests and exhibition visitors appreciated artists giving final touches to their paintings in-front of them. “It is indeed a splendid joy to see an artist beautifying his painting. The myriad colours, imagination and swift hand movement is something worth gazing and appreciating,”
Among the artists, Rohit Sharma’s five works of art have been displayed. These are, “Delhi on Road- Mythical Cow”, “Modern Cow, Delhi on Road - Sleepless”, “Delhi on Road- Auto” and “I Love Delhi- Golden Car”. His work has evolved over a period of time with deep influence of his working in the city. His understandings of the nuances of life in the city are reflected in his keen sense of observation of day-to-day life, which unfolds in his work.
“The cows and vehicles in the paintings, all with distinct identity along with the background of the labyrinthine streets, brings to us the realities of the city, which is constantly on the move,” said Shweta Sharma, Manager Corporate Communications, Paharpur Business Centre. Rohit has been honoured with Biswanath Mukerjee Award and Swapan Biswas Award from College of Art, New Delhi in 2002
Pankaj Nigam’s art is a fusion of art and poetry, emotion and expression, and freedom and conformity. One look at his art and one feels one is being taken through a journey of their soul. His paintings push onlookers to introspect. The strokes, lines, and colours reflect real people who are going an ethereal transformation. He has been bestowed with ‘National Youth Award’ in 1995. Five of his paintings are on display - “Dance for the Divine”, “Three monks”, “A Day in a Village”, “Dance for the Divine 1” and “Friends”.
Some of the visitors were enthralled by the paintings of Naval Kishore, as according to them, his serene brushes on Lord Buddha struck the right chord with spirituality and inner peace.
His art is full of expression—thoughts, emotions, and feelings—that cannot be expressed comfortably in a world full of conventional beliefs. His paintings are more about one’s inner quest, about the search of one’s own Buddha; one’s journey within. His paintings on display are – “Relation”
Pradeep Tarei’s artistic expression embraces natural panorama, rural culture, environmental harmony, architectural grandeur, portraits and figures invariably depicting harmony and serenity. He has a unique style of displaying mosaic effects on paintings of oil on canvas. He has been struggling to overcome his physical challenge of being hearing impaired. His five paintings include “Farmer”, “Seagulls”
The artworks will be on display from August 13– August 22, 2011, time: 9 am – 7 pm, at PBC Art Gallery, Paharpur Business Centre, 21 Nehru Place Greens, New Delhi – 110 019.
