Free film festival launches downtown on Saturday
A free short film festival is showcasing local talent this Saturday from 7PM to 9PM at the Rialto block’s Outside Theater.
This is the Short Film Festival’s (SFS) first event, and they have teamed up with the Independent Film Association of Southern Arizona to entertain the community, network with other filmmakers and garner the attention of distributors and investors. SFS will be an ongoing participant in Second Saturdays Downtown.
This event is open to the entire community, and is built around town pride. Every film will be relevant to Tucsonans, as every movie submitted must be shot in Tucson, mention Tucson or be created by a local filmmaker.
People of all ages are welcome to attend the event. Due to the varying styles of filmmakers, some movies may contain material similar to that of PG-13 rated movies.
SFS was founded by Mark Headley, Yuri Machado, Benny Kennedy, Daniel Geffre and Ben Lopez—five talented filmmakers wanting to share their vision with the world. IFASA is an ever-growing group of filmmakers, actors, writers, producers and general film enthusiasts that are looking to grow Tucson into a great community to create films of any scale. Together, SFS and IFASA are helping each other reach their goals.
For lovers of free movies, the SFS will take place the second Saturday of every month at the Rialto block’s Outside Theater, on the corner of 5th and Congress, directly next to the King Tut exhibit. For anyone with a short film to promote, the SFS is always accepting new films. And for everyone that wants to be involved in the growth of Tucson’s film community, IFASA is always welcoming new members.
