There are concerted efforts by Kenya youth hostels association and the Kenya voluntary and community development project that’s joint efforts is to green the Mount Kenya and restore its lost glory, this is proving a success.
We are offering volunteers a chance for a hands on experience by personally contributing to and important community project in Mt Kenya by planting trees as you climb or take a trekking tour of the mountain which over the years seem to be losing at a very alarming rate its most attractive snow due to global warming.
Most of which has been caused by human due to illegal logging of trees which has caused loss of wildlife and water most rivers from its source have dried up but this is something that requires human intervention to correct and restore for the betterment of our future generations.
This program can be done by everyone going up the mountain on his or her way up and or down get to plant at least a tree or more and if this trend is maintained thousands of travellers climbing MT Kenya on a budget  can be asked to plant a tree of their choice and in about a couple of years ,lots of trees would be coming up and the beauty of it is that one tree per hiker is more than appreciated we will have the mountain as a heritage site for Kenya and we can pride ourselves with its success.
