Commercial Induction Hobs Aid Village SOS at Talgarth Mill

Aug. 12, 2011 - PRLog -- This community project was recently featured on the BBC1 Village SOS program with Sarah Beeny.  The program followed the restoration progress of the water mill from derelict empty shell to fully functioning flour mill, with a community bakery and café.

Local volunteers, helped by main contractors Osborne Building Contractors, turned the site into a fantastic community asset bringing together the local community, providing jobs and restoring the beating heart back into the village.

The motion of the water wheel turning and the rumble of mill stones had not been heard since 1946 but flour is now being produced and used in the bakery providing locally produced products for The Bakers Table café with riverside location.

Landscaped river walks form a tranquil setting to reflect on days gone by when the mill was the heart of the community and wonder at this transformation where it is now the catalyst to regenerate and invigorate the local community once again.

This beacon project is set to inspire many more and by pulling together communities, demonstrating best practice and by using the best of old world technology and skills together with the latest green, environmentally friendly equipment in the kitchen, this in turn will ensure a sustainable self funding initiative which can be maintained for the community by the community.
