Follow on Google News | A Physician Healing Through the ArtsNoted neurosurgeon excels in the art of bronze sculpture, using the lost art of wax casting.
By: Michaela Akers While Biagio Azzarelli was born in Peru, he actually grew up in Santiago, Chile and took an early interest in sculpture, studying under the supervision of local artisans. "My primary sculptural medium is bronze and my artistic goal is to develop a unique style while perfecting techniques using the lost art of wax casting." The results are masterpieces of fluidity of form and dynamic detail. A minimalistic bronze female flows. A spooked horse rears back, showing the intricate dynamics of fear in his eyes and open jaw. The viewer experiences these emotive qualities seemingly cast into the gleaming bronze. Azzarelli, a Professor Emeritus in Neuropathology, Neurology and Neurosurgery at Indiana University, has returned to full artistic focus since retiring in 2005. His juried art competitions and exhibits are many and his healing artwork may now be seen at http://www.whitepinesgallery.com "Art can be therapeutic and relaxing or can encourage exploration and spark your imagination," "There are many documented psychological, emotional, physical, and workforce productivity data that prove ART heals, ART produces positive feelings and emotions, ART improves our very lives and we are a better, more compassionate society because of ART. We invite you to see this wonderful sculpture." # # # The Michaela Galleries is a physical and virtual art gallery featuring the original paintings and prints of artist, Michaela Akers. End
