Hutchison ties career best NASCAR Late Model finish at Roseville

Aug. 10, 2011 - PRLog -- After grabbing fast-time honors, 16 year-old NASCAR Late Model rookie Dylan Hutchison drove his #88 Karp Capital Management / Johnnie Walker Performance Chevrolet to a second place finish in Saturday night’s 75 lap feature at All American Speedway.  The runner-up finish ties Hutchison’s career best effort of second in the first 50 lap feature on May 21st.

The 2009 WSRA Baby Grand champion has continued to improve throughout the 2011 season after starting his year in the prestigious TOYOTA All-Star Showdown at TOYOTA Speedway in Irwindale.  Hutchison leads all rookies in the points standings at the All American Speedway, a one-third mile asphalt oval outside Sacramento.

Hutchison started off the evening with a strong 13.823 second lap in qualifying to grab his first career NASCAR fast-time.  Hutchison had some work to do in the 75 lap main event as the invert placed him seventh on the grid.

After battling hard and finding himself mired from between sixth and eighth place, Hutchison took advantage of a lap 33 caution to go the pits for adjustments.  Crew Chief Mark Romero made some setup changes on the car and Hutchison went back to work.

Hutchison quickly navigated the field on the restart, cracking the top-five on lap 42.  He then shot into third on lap 57.  Battling with points leader Matt Scott, Hutchison finally took third for good on lap 63.

Hutchison ran close to the leaders and finally seized second place when the top-two tangled.  Hutchison was able to defend second place to the finish in a thrilling performance.

“I’m really excited about my first Late Model fast-time and the strong second place finish,” Hutchison said.  “I cannot thank my entire crew enough for their hard work!  The adjustments that Mark made on this car were perfect.”

Hutchison’s team will get a week off before the division returns to action on August 20.  Hutchison finds himself tied for fourth in the track points after Saturday’s race.
