LiveHacking.com Becomes Official Sponsor of Global CyberLympics

Aug. 10, 2011 - PRLog -- LiveHacking.com, the online information security magazine, is pleased to announced that it has been accepted as an official media partner of the EC-Council's Global CyberLympics. The games which will start in September (with the finals in the first quarter of 2012) are endorsed by the International Multilateral Partnership Against Cyber Threats (IMPACT), which is part of the International Telecommunications Union (ITU). The ITU is the United Nations specialized agency for information and communication technologies.

The games will be made up of a series of offensive and defensive security challenges. Teams will compete in regional championships with the best teams going on to the Global CyberLympics hacking championship final in 2012. The EC-Council is sponsoring the events with over $400,000 worth of prizes.

“This new initiative by the EC-Council will be highly competitive but with a serious agenda to improve communications on cybersecurity issues among nation states” said the chief editor. “LiveHacking is very proud to be part of this new event and we are very much looking forward to bringing our readers the latest news from the games.”

Regional championships will be held in various locations across different continents, and co-hosted with reputable IT/information security conferences and tradeshows, as follows:

- South America | H2HC – Sao Paolo, Brazil
- Europe | Hacktivity – Budapest, Hungary
- Middle East & India | GITEX – Dubai, UAE
- Asia Pacific | Hacker Halted APAC – Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia
- Africa | TakeDownCon – Johannesburg, South Africa

With the help of IMPACT, the ITU and LiveHacking.com, the Global CyberLympics hopes to be able to promote its mission to all 136 partner countries and make the world’s first hacking contest a truly global success.
