Dominican Native, Representing the Nation’s Capitol, is Crowned Ms. Belleza Latina

Aug. 10, 2011 - PRLog -- Laurel, MD - On Saturday, August 6, pageant newcomer Alba Yuliza Encarnacion wowed the audience and judges to become Ms. Belleza Latina 2012.  The wife and mother of a 7-year old son was crowned in Chicago at the North Shore Theatre for the Performing Arts.  She entered the pageant with hopes of realizing a childhood dream and was ultimately rewarded the Fashion Wear, Photogenic and Evening Gown awards within her division. Ms. Encarnacion has lived in the Dominican Republic for the majority of her life, moving to the Washington Metropolitan area two year ago. She is honored to represent Latinas worldwide over the next year.   Her first public appearance will be at the Washington Premier Fashion Showcase, which is being held during Maryland Fashion Week, on Sunday, August 14.
 
No stranger to hard work and giving back to the community, she has spent the last year traveling between the United States and the Dominican Republic to work with Los Ninos de Maria as a spokesperson.  Los Niños de Maria is a non-profit institution dedicated to providing health and education assistance to children in need in rural areas within the Dominican Republic.  Through her work and advocacy, the organization has raised school supplies for more than 8,000 children.  She has also contributed to their fundraising goals.  Yuliza has personally collected book bags, school supplies, can food clothing and money for the organization. During her reign as Ms. Belleza Latina, Yuliza will continue working with the organization to raise awareness as well encourage other Latino artists, activists and pageant titleholders to contribute to the organization's mission financially and by collecting items.

About Ms. Belleza Latina 2012
A mass-media communications major attending the University of the District of Columbia, she currently works as Customer Service Representative and Client Support Agent for a Financial Services company.   Throughout her career as a model she has placed first-runner up in the Models of the World competition, as well as working with contemporary stores such Arden B, Bebe and American Eagle. She is currently scheduled to model at the Latino Fashion Week in Washington, DC this Fall.   In addition to her full-time professional responsibilities and spending time with family and friends, Yuliza practices belly dancing and conducts special reports for a local television show “DC Contigo”  which is  transmitted in Univision Washington on Saturday mornings.
