Offshore Support Vessel Kailash Drydock Repairs Completed Sucessfully
The offshore Support vessel Kailash owned by Global Offshore Services Ltd. India was successfully accommodated for major drydocking and lay up repairs during June 2011.

The vessel was operating in the Indian waters and Colombo was the best choice for them given the track record of the yard on similar repair / upgrading jobs. Colombo has been patronised by many offshore support vessel owners such as Bourbon offshore-France, Tidewater-USA, ONGC-India, Great Offshore-India, Greatship-India and SCI-India.
During this call the owners were preparing the vessel for her next charter in Brazil, key systems were upgraded during this repair call, tanks were converted to meet the new charterer requirements as well.
The work extensive scope package consisted of :
• TANK CONVERSION: 4 Nos. Mud tanks were converted to Fresh Water tanks, scope was to remove existing paint layer up to bear metal by blasting and applied compatible paint for fresh water. 4 nos mud tanks were converted to Fuel Oil tanks, scope was to remove existing paint layer up to bear metal by blasting and oil washing carried out suitable to Fuel Oil. 2 nos Base oil tanks converted to Fresh Water tanks, scope was to Chemical washed+ HP washed+ blasting + applied compatible paint for Fresh Water. 2 nos Fuel Oil tanks converted to Fresh Water tanks, scope was Chemical wash, HP wash, Blasting and application of compatible paint for Fresh Water. Fuel Oil overflow tank converted to cofferdam, scope was to chemical wash remove oily surface, HP wash, paint.
• PIPING SYSTEM CONVERSION: Piping systems upgraded /converted with necessary piping and fittings and installations, pipe fabrications, valves fittings and system pressure testing carried out as per DNV requirements. Fresh water system- Vents, Piping fittings and fabrications and existing pipes blanking, remote sounding sensor position changing. FO / FO overflow tank-Vents, Overflow piping, Remote sounding sensor positions, Sampling points (spring loaded v/vs with ball v/vs). Dry bulk cement tanks-large vent filters and related piping and mountings installed, Refrigerated. Air dryers installed, compressed air piping to deck, Cargo discharge piping for all 5 cement tanks in both P & S sides, Bottom man holes - 5 nos fabricated. On deck port and Stbd main manifolds (FW, FO, Dry bulk,) shifted from mid ship to aft P & S. Necessary pipe modifications and fittings and plate form fabricated with removable gratings. 5 nos cement tanks level measuring rods fabricated to check the cement tank level. 176 Nos D- shackles with pads fabricated and welded on hull for tyre fenders.
20 nos male / female reefer sockets installed, necessary cabling wired from MSB to deck both P & S. Motors O/H, MSB servicing
The project was coordinated by the Mr. Dhammika Dissanayake –Ship Manager, ably supported by the production teams from all departments in completing this project successfully. The repairs were carried out meeting the requirements of classification Society Det Norske Veritas (DNV) and Indian Register of Shipping (IRS). The owner’s representative Mr. Vinay Mohile Asst. General Manager and Mr Kamal Agrawal – Director Technical overlooked the project in Colombo. The Local agents for the vessel during this call were Mc Learence Shipping Ltd.
