Aug. 8, 2011 - PRLog -- SACRAMENTO, Calif. – Keith Springer discusses the impact of Standard & Poor’s downgrade of the U.S. debt on Friday on the markets.

According to E.S. Browning, Mary Pilon and Serena Ng, reporters for the Wall Street Journal, “While the timing of Friday evening's downgrade surprised some market participants and followed a tumultuous week for global markets, others noted that the possibility of S&P's move had been well telegraphed for weeks while Congress wrangled over raising the debt ceiling.”

Friday night's downgrade by S&P "isn't exactly news to the markets, which have already been pricing in the threat of a downgrade—hence, last week's selloff," said Keith Springer, author of Facing Goliath: How to Triumph in the Dangerous Market Ahead, and president of Springer Financial Advisors in Sacramento, CA.

Standard & Poor's first-ever downgrade of U.S. Treasury debt could lead to some market tumult next week, investors and analysts said Saturday. Over time, though, the downgrade might do little more than mark a moment in the decline of U.S. economic strength, they said.
