Recruitment Agency Contingency Fees Exposed by Legal Recruitment Agency Ten-Percent Legal

Most recruitment agencies charge around 19-25% to recruit a solicitor, so if you consider a salary of £30,000 for a 3 year PQE litigation solicitor in Leeds, the firm would need to find a fee of £7,500 plus VAT, payable within 21 days to the recruitment agency, when recruiting.

We think that law firms should easily be able to avoid this cost, either by advertising themselves on job boards or by using an integrated legal recruitment agency, job board and CV bank like Ten-Percent Legal Recruitment. Our company charge nothing per candidate and instead ask our clients to join up for our services and pay from just £60 a month to recruit as many candidates as they like."

Mr Fagan anticipates that a number of recruitment agencies may refute the claims above but he is unrepentant: "lets face it, the vast majority of agency work is simply a case of getting a good CV in, sending a good CV out, and waiting for a client to bite. Very little work is put into the actual recruitment process by most recruitment agencies and the cost involved per hour is probably more than senior partners in central London earn in commercial practices."
