Aug. 4, 2011 - PRLog -- Thomas Sabo jewellery is powering through the motorsports season with a number of sponsorships in both German Touring Cars (DTM) and in the mainline sport of Formula one.

This season the group has been a title sponsor of their own AMG Mercedes C-Class and of British racer Gary Paffett.  In Formula One the company has become a personal sponsor of another Mercedes driver, Nico Rosberg.

Both drivers have experienced a mixed season.  Paffett has an impressive career record leading him to score a total of 17 DTM victories out of 70 races (more than any other active DTM driver).  He was runner-up in three championship (2004, 2009 and 2010) and won the title in 2005.

This season, he has been dogged with technical problems including the failure of his steering systems on lap 16 of the even at Norisring last month  Paffett entered the second part of a chicane, went to turn left but the car headed straight on into the concrete wall ending Paffett's race immediately.  The season resumes on 7th August at the Nurburgring before moving on to Brands Hatch in the UK.

Formula one star Nico Rosberg is also sponsored by Thomas Sabo Jewellery.  Rosberg celebrated his 100th F1 race by taking to the track at the Hungaroring near Budapest.  The race itself was a nightmare for both drivers and technical staff, incorporating both an explosion of one of the Lotus cars in the pit lane exit causing problems for all of the drivers trying to avoid a penalty by staying within the pit lane boundary.  The real problem for driver, includingThomas Sabo Ambassador  Nico Rosberg, was the unsettled weather which alternated between light rain and dry conditions.  This caused the track to become slippery and cooled the tyres of the cars reducing in a loss of traction.

The driver did finish in the points however, but he lost out on a better finishing position due his choice of tyres been unsuitable for the weather conditions.  In the middle of the race, the prime tyres no longer had any grip in the increasingly damp conditions. The decision to to put on intermediates was the correct choice at the time, but the rain shower proved not to be very strong a switch to slicks cost the driver a few positions.

F1 is now on its mid season-break and returns at the Spa circuit in Belgium on 26th August.  Thomas Sabo Jewellery is available on-line at http://www.thejewelhut.co.uk
