Curves Partners With Fort Hood Area Habitat for HumanityCurves International Signs Up For Second Habitat Women Build.
By: Curves The project is a Women Build, meaning that while both women and men are welcome to participate, women are highly encouraged to do so. Women’s groups and individuals can contact Habitat to register to volunteer once the construction scheduled has been set. Curves corporate employees, as well as owners, staff and members from the Belton, Copperas Cove, Gatesville, Georgetown, Harker Heights, Killeen, Pflugerville, Robinson, Round Rock, Temple, Waco and Woodway clubs will have a chance to participate. Curves sponsored a Women Build in Waco, Texas in 2007 for a single mom with five daughters. “This is the second Women Build we've done in Central Texas,” said Curves founder Diane Heavin, “and we had so much fun building the first one that we want to encourage anyone who’s ever wanted to do this to come out and join us. The folks from Habitat make it so easy to learn new skills, and there’s an amazing sense of community in a project like this.” Building the house is not the only volunteer help needed. Volunteers need food and water to keep their strength up. Habitat for Humanity has been fortunate in the past with restaurants or church groups graciously donating food.
