| Minnesota Autism Community Can Now Get Brain Biofeedback In Homes and Schools. The Minnesota autism community can now get brain based biofeedback in their homes or schools if they have Minnesota State Health Plans or private pay.
The way it works is the brain is monitored by a psychotherapist in a therapy session that has a unique approach. The computer lets a movie or game play when the person getting the therapy keeps or makes more of the needed brain change. When they don't the game or movie gets a little dim on the screen for moment while it adjusts and the client's brain adjusts to keep the screen going normally. This in effect is like behavioral therapy for the brain. It has been proven to work for autism in an abundance of new research around the world. Now the Minnesota autism community can benefit through the first community service offering it, and those to come- The Minnesota Biofeedback Clinic, www.minnesotabiofeedbackclinic.com ). The changes families see are incredible. Research around the world has shown that the short term effects of 20-30 sessions are 50% reduction in problem behavior in the classroom, while longer treatment changes the lives of the clients. The blood flow in the front of the brain is increased so social thinking and social mirroring improves along with the ability to filter out overwhelming stimulation that often upsets people with autism. As the brain changes so does the social, emotional, and cognitive health of the children. Grades of children studies improved an average of .96 letter grades (about one letter grade), and that was with 20-30 sessions. Longer term therapy does more. For the Minnesota autism community this is an unprecedented service and one that The State of Minnesota can be proud of. The Founder of The Minnesota Biofeedback Clinic is a psychotherapist with prior experience doing applied behavioral analysis and EEG biofeedback or neurofeedback in homes and schools with people with autism (including asperger's), ADHD and other conditions. It is his hope to offer this service to the whole Minnesota autism community to spread, share, and provide a needed service across the state that sets a precedence for the entire country.
