Cadizcasa estate and rental agency speaks at Chifra meeting on the Spanish property market.

Aug. 3, 2011 - PRLog -- Lesley McEwan, Managing Director of Cadizcasa the well known Costa de la Luz Estate and Rental Agent  was the guest speaker at the CHIFRA (Chiclana Foreign Residents Association) meeting held at Venta Abuela in Pelegatos, Chiclana recently.  The content of her speech was The Spanish Property Market - The Boom to the Bust.

In an very interesting hour long speech Lesley took listeners through where she believed the boom started way back in the 1950´s with Pedro Zaragoza the then Mayor of Benidorm.  She classed Pedro as a visionary way beyond his time who realised that change was needed if Spain was to move forward.   She gave the reasons she believed  for the fall in the property market and her views on the future for the property market in Spain.  

Her speech followed a theme of the necessity for change in order to meet the modern day requirements of the property purchaser and ended with a cautious but optimistic view of where the market is going.

Lesley feels that the government forcing banks to start lending, creating confidence in overseas buyers that Spanish estate agency practices are changing and offering honesty about the unsolved legality problems in some parts of the Costa de la Luz are the three main answers to the currently slow market.

The speech ended with Lesley answering questions from the floor on subjects as diverse as Capital Gains tax and whether building a swimming pool would enhance a house sale price.

Audience members then formed a queue to speak personally to Lesley for advice on various property concerns.

When asked if she thought the evening had been advantageous Lesley said “I think as property professionals we should all give some of our time to answer questions and help to advise people who otherwise may not come into contact with estate agents.   Due to the behaviour of some individuals and companies in the past, estate agency is at an all-time low in Spain and we must work hard to regain the public´s confidence and show that there are professionals here to advise and assist people to achieve their property goals, whether they are buying or selling”.
