U.S. Ambassador all praises for Paharpur Business Centre’s building & sustainability initiatives

Aug. 2, 2011 - PRLog -- dinner for Ambassador (Retd.) A. Peter Burleigh, Charge d’affaires, U.S. Embassy, at PBCTM-STIP, Nehru Place Greens, on Saturday evening.  
The event was illuminated by the presence of H.E. Mrs. and Mr. Phillpe Welti, Ambassador of Switzerland, H.E Mrs. and Mr. Vetsop Namgyel, Ambassador of Bhutan, H.E. Mr. Pisan Manawapat, Ambassador of Thailand, H.E. Mrs. and Mr. Ernesto Carlos Alvarez, Ambassador of Argentina, Dr. Prem Jain, Chairman, Indian Green Building Council apart from other eminent dignitaries.
Mr. Meattle took Mr. Burleigh for a tour of the building explaining the various initiatives that make PBCTM-STIP, the first office building in India to be USGBC LEED Platinum – as a retrofit. He took him to the Green House where there are more than 300 plants that help PBCTM-STIP “grow their own fresh air” which, in turn makes it one of the healthiest building as rated by Central Pollution Control Board, Govt. of India. He also demonstrated to him and other guests, how the blood oxygen level rises if one stays in the building, as a result of cleaner indoor air.
In his remarks, Mr. Meattle first thanked Mr. Burleigh and other guests attending the dinner, for taking time out of their busy schedules and briefed them about various achievements including their certified annual energy consumption of 28 whr/hr/m2 and that PBCTM-STIP is a Bureau of Energy Efficiency five star rated building. He proudly announced to them, the recent release of their annual Corporate Sustainability Report duly verified by Global Reporting Initiative. He further told them about PBCTM-STIP's ambitious project, GreenSpaces, which will be world's most energy-efficient commercial building near DElhi, with over 1.8 million sq.ft. of space that will include a hotel, retail, entertainment and offices.
He also told the guests that the food that they were going to have, served by Café Einstein, a fine dining restaurant of PBCTM-STIP, used near organic ingredients with zero trans-fat oil.
Just before the dinner, Mr. Burleigh thanked Mr. Meattle for inviting him over for dinner and appreciated the Indoor Air Quality System which provides a mountain-fresh environment, spanking in the middle of hot and polluted Delhi.
The guests were all impressed with the sustainability initiatives at PBCTM-STIP and thanked Mr. Meattle for giving them the opportunity to experience these in person.
