Follow on Google News | West Suburban Community Pantry seeking volunteers due to increase in clientsThe West Suburban Community Pantry (WSCP), a non-profit organization working to eradicate hunger and improve the quality of life in DuPage County, announced today its need for additional volunteers.
By: Meredith Darbyshire "We are realizing the growing need for our offerings in many communities and we are happy to provide the needed services. However, we also have a large facility and in order to ensure maximum efficiency we need more rotations of volunteers." In addition to providing food to over 3,800 DuPage County residents each month, the West Suburban Community Pantry also provides free ESL, car seat safety and nutrition classes. The pantry also supplies free school breakfasts for over 1,300 students in school districts 68 and 202 every school day throughout the year. Additional volunteers are needed on a weekly basis on Tuesday 2:30pm-6:30pm, Thursday 5:30pm-8:30pm and Saturday 8:15am- noon. Volunteers help with food distribution to clients. Volunteers must complete a one hour orientation and be physically able to do some light lifting. Anyone interested in volunteering can email abanks@wcpinc.org or call 630.512.9921 and ask for Anne or Kelly.
