Darragh MacAnthony has appointed former Member of Parliament to an advisory role at Posh

Chairman Darragh MacAnthony has announced that former Football League Lord Mawhinney is to become Patron of Peterborough United.
Aug. 1, 2011 - PRLog -- Lord Mawhinney was present at the club’s annual Press Day at London Road on Friday and MacAnthony was delighted with his new ‘signing’.
‘My first game ever as chairman of the Posh was against Everton and Sir Brian made a presentation to me with a picture of the stadium in a frame and I have had a great relationship with him in the five years I have been at the club.
‘Everyone knows Brian’s history and the connection he has to the area, his political career and more importantly what he has done in football and with the Football League.
‘He was my boss for many years and I believe has been the best Football League chairman, so much so I am disappointed he is still not holding that position.’

‘I have spent time socially with him, he always comes and has a chat and he has given me advice over things like the council, the stadium and the city and I just felt, going forward, as we try and expand and grow as a football club, that we needed some intelligent-minded people around me that I can use their energy, experience and advice on certain matters.’
