A Cool Front Hits Washington, D.C.

Tiny Jewel Box Takes Home “America’s Coolest Jewelry Store” Award

Aug. 1, 2011 - PRLog -- WASHINGTON, DC -- Tiny Jewel Box, who, for 81 years, has been Washington's home of unique treasures and unmatched personal service, has been named America’s Coolest Jewelry Store. INSTORE, the premier magazine of the American jewelry industry, chose Tiny Jewel Box (http://www.tinyjewelbox.com) as the winner from over 116 nominees in the “Big Cool” division, and placed Tiny Jewel Box on the magazine’s cover of their August 2011 issue, which is out today.  This accolade, the first to be awarded to a Washington D.C. jewelry store, also comes on the heels of Tiny Jewel Box owner Jim Rosenheim’s April 2011 induction into the National Jeweler Retail Hall of Fame.

“It’s only taken us 80 years to be cool, but we’re thrilled with the award!” said Tiny Jewel Box co-owner Matt Rosenheim.  “This is like winning a Best New Artist and Lifetime Achievement Award all in one year, which I have to think is pretty unprecedented. It is such an honor.”

Stores are judged by five INSTORE editors on exterior appearance, interior appearance, store biography, marketing, website and overall individuality—characteristics that Tiny Jewel Box has carefully curated over the past 80 years through three generations of Rosenheim’s and a keen sense of innovation while nodding to classic elegance.

The Tiny Jewel Box boasts three floors of decadence—each with its own unique identity. The first floor holds stunning engagement and wedding rings from premier designers including Mark Patterson, Jack Kelege, and Michael Bondanza. Also on the first floor is the area’s largest collection of vintage and antique jewelry and the latest collections from top designers such as Alex Sepkus, Marco Bicego, Penny Preville and more. The second floor is home to fresh, trend-setting designers such as David Yurman and John Hardy as well as handcrafted jewel boxes and other accessories.

On the top floor, an extraordinary selection of men’s and women’s timepieces are kept from designers such as Jaeger-LeCoultre, Bedat & Co. as well as giftware from around the world, and a handsome collection of fine accessories and gifts for men from designers such as Baccarat, Buccekatti and David Yurman.  The store continues to introduce and seek out new ideas and designers while still holding true to its core tenets of top-notch customer service and timeless, classic style.

“With these accolades under our belt, we’re looking toward the next 80 years,” says Rosenheim. “There is so much that we see ourselves doing in the future.  We’re just scratching the surface.”
