Jake Barreau, a senior at the University of Wisconsin-Madison, will serve on the national board of directors of Future Business Leaders of America-Phi Beta Lambda (FBLA-PBL).

Barreau was elected by his peers to serve as PBL National President during the FBLA-PBL National Leadership Conference, held June 23-26 in Orlando, Florida. As PBL National President, his seat on the national board is for a one-year term.
“The national board depends on the fresh voices of our national officers each year,” said Jean M. Buckley, FBLA-PBL president and CEO. “Jake has an impressive track record in FBLA-PBL. He served as a state officer of Wisconsin PBL for two consecutive terms from the 2009-11 and was instrumental in creating new programs to help PBL members realize higher achievements. We look forward to Jake’s input on the national board as we continue to grow our organization.”
Barreau has been involved with FBLA-PBL since his freshmen year in high school, during which time he attended six National Leadership Conferences and placed at Nationals eight times. He served as the 2010-2011 North Central Region Vice President and the 2009-2010 PBL National Parliamentarian.
Apart from his academic and leadership career, Barreau is also an avid athlete. He is the youngest high school varsity volleyball coach in the state and plays on the University of Wisconsin men’s club volleyball team. After graduation from UW-Madison and upon completion of his term as national president, Barreau hopes to continue working with nonprofit and career and technical student organizations.
