July 28, 2011 - PRLog -- (Portland, OR) Newly formed company Imbue Body LLC launches first product: The Imbue Pain Relief Patch, made solely of plant-derived ingredients. Receiving rave reviews out of the gate, the patch comes from creators with extensive experience in pain management, one of whom is a doctor of acupuncture and Chinese medicine.

Imbue Body LLC was founded by Peter Borten, a Doctor of Acupuncture and Oriental Medicine, and Briana Borten, a Licensed Massage Therapist and Certified Ayurvedic Specialist. Both have been in private practice for over a decade. They have owned The Dragontree holistic spa in Portland since 2003, where they lead a team of over 60 talented employees in delivering high quality health and body care.

“While we have treated a wide range of health issues in our respective practices, we both have developed an affinity for managing pain,” says Briana. “At The Dragontree Spa, we have introduced many to the restorative value of bodywork with great success.”

In his practice, Dr. Borten treats pain with acupuncture informed by trigger point theory, which forms the basis of the Pain Expert section he created on the Imbue Body website. His first passion, however, is herbal medicine. This interest began when he was a teenager, and it led him to earn a bachelor's degree in botany at the University of Massachusetts at Amherst. Following this, he dove into the complexity and sophistication of Chinese herbal medicine in graduate school at Oregon College of Oriental Medicine.

“Chinese Herbs have since been a keystone of my medical practice,” he explains. “Herbs have been used externally for pain and injuries of all sorts for centuries.”

The pain formulas most treasured are known as Die Da Jiao (Dit Da Jow) or "hit formulas," developed and often held in secrecy by schools of martial arts. These have long been used to promote rapid recovery from traumas such as bruises, sprains, and broken bones. “In my doctoral training, I learned from orthopedics experts from Chinese hospitals, who shared external herbal prescriptions with many herbs in common with Die Da Jiao,” he says.

Dr. Borten found topical herbs to be powerful medicine, often more effective than other approaches for pain. He experimented with many formulations before ultimately settling upon what would become the Imbue Pain Relief Patch. For more information please visit www.imbuebody.com. "I have plantar fasciitis, which is a painful condition extending from my heel all the way to the bottom center of my right foot. Part of the treatment is stretching and massaging this tissue which is also quite painful. While wearing the Imbue patch, this pain was completely alleviated and I was able to walk and do the necessary stretching without grimacing in discomfort. It has been the most helpful treatment so far in regard to this condition."

"I find myself very grateful to Imbue patches and their makers. Recently I was rear-ended in an auto collision and the owners of the company went out of their way to get me 3 samples within hours of the accident, complete with detailed instructions as to ideal placement and use. I have since spoken with others involved in similar accidents, and I can say I don't hurt anywhere near as much as I am told I should. I would highly recommend Imbue patches for any type of aches and pains/injuries of this type."

"I always carry the Imbue Pain Relief Patch in my workout bag for the various aches and pains that I acquire through practicing martial arts. The patch is easy to apply and begins working almost immediately. In many cases it not only improved the pain while I was wearing it but the injury was substantially better after I took the patch off."
