Montclair Library Presents Thriller Film Festival opens August 3rd

The Montclair Public Library will be hosting a Thriller Film Festival from August 3rd to August 31.
 
July 27, 2011 - PRLog -- The Montclair Public Library will be hosting a Thriller Film Festival from August  3rd  to August 31. A series of classic thrillers starting with Fritz Lang’s Man Hunt  and ending with the all-time classic Gaslight. All screenings begin at 1pm in the Library’s cool auditorium. All programs are free.

August 3 The Spiral Staircase (1945)  Starring Ethel Barrymore and thriller favorite Elsa Lanchester, the story is about  a serial killer (circa 1916) is targeting women with 'afflictions'; one night during a thunderstorm, mute Helen feels menaced.

August 10:  Man Hunt (1941)  Hold onto your seats as this classic thriller, directed by Fritz Lang, leads you on a death defying manhunt starring Walter Pidgeon as big game hunter who tries to kill Adolph Hitler and is hunted by German agents. Will he survive?

August 17:  And Then There Were None  (1945), a film of Agatha Christie’s classic mystery, starring Barry Fitzgerald and Walter Huston in which a group of  people are invited for a weekend on an island but their host is not present. After the group listens to a recording accusing them of murder, they die one after another. Finally there are only two left.  Is one of them the murder?  If not who is?  

August 24:  Lured  (1947) Lucille Ball stars in this tale of a London serial killer who is murdering young women whom he meets through the personal columns of newspapers; he announces each of his murders to the police by sending them a cryptic poem. After a dancer disappears, the police enlist an American friend of hers, Sandra Carpenter, to answer advertisements in the personal columns and so lure the killer.

August 31:  Gaslight  (1944) George Cukor directs with star turns by Ingrid Bergman, Charles Boyer and Joseph Cotton. Years after her aunt was murdered in her home, a young woman moves back into the house with her new husband. However, he has a secret which he will do anything to protect, even if that means driving his wife insane.

After the movie stop, in at Terra in the Isabel Rose Café for some tea, coffee and a snack.
