July 27, 2011 - PRLog -- Last week the Small School District Association hosted the 26th Annual New Superintendents Symposium.  The event, which took place at the Embassy Suites in Sacramento, CA, was put on by the SSDA to help new superintendents adjust to their positions.

The event was also attended by several associate business members of the SSDA such as Ray Morgan Company, DWK, and SSDA’s newest member, Novachi.  These vendors were on hand to assist the new superintendents with some of the choices and situations they might face in the future.

One major theme of the event was how schools are dealing with the shrinking budget.  “We’re living in a unique time where, on one hand, we have both federal and state governments telling us we need to implement technology into schools, and on the other we have a steadily shrinking budget.  Novachi was created to solve that problem.”  Said a Novachi representative.  Novachi is a completely free Student Information and Learning Management System designed to make your administrative tasks easier, and to help you report necessary data to state for CALPADS reporting.

The symposium was also attended by several guest speakers.  Jeri Wenger, from School Innovations and Advocacy, spoke on the subject of Budgets, and how superintendents can efficiently manage them  and apply for different grants.  Tom Adams, from California Department of Education, covered the topic of Common Core Standards & Assessments.  The topics were diverse, but one fact was reflected in all of the gathered speakers, and that was California’s budget problems effect all the decisions that superintendents make as leaders in their community.

Education in California, once a leader in the education community, has seen many setbacks.  K12 schools in California have seen their budgets slashed by $18 billion just in the last three years, making new superintendents’ already tough job even tougher.  Business innovators like Novachi provide educators with a unique opportunity to meet their goals without impacting their budgets.
