July 26, 2011 - PRLog -- Each year, regional divisions of Lennar, one of the country’s leading homebuilders, perform “Focused Acts of Caring” for charitable organizations in cities where their communities are built. Last year, Lennar’s Dallas/Ft. Worth Division continued its focus on the Denton State Supported Living Center with a commitment to build a new Sensory Garden, the recent completion of which was celebrated with a July 21st ribbon cutting. And, for the second year in a row, Lennar also made a $10,000 cash donation to The Denton School.

Representing Lennar at the ribbon cutting were Don Luke, Regional President; Jack Dawson, Dallas-Ft. Worth Division President and Jeff Johnson, Vice- President of Regional Operations. On hand from The Center were Nancy Condon, Director of Facility, and Melissa Bradley, Director of Volunteer Services.

The state-supported Center, the largest of 12 state living centers in Texas, is home to more than 580 individuals with severe and profound developmental issues. Also part of Lennar’s 2010 “Focused Act of Caring,” and apart from the corporate effort, Lennar’s Dallas/Ft. Worth Associates personally spearheaded a campaign that resulted in the donation of 250 holiday gifts to Center residents, who range in age from their 30s to well into their 70s.

Lennar’s Dallas/Ft. Worth division president Jack Dawson explained, “We felt that The Center’s mission and contribution to the well-being of the community warranted a significant commitment on our part. In addition to the cash donation, we negotiated with many of our Trade Partners to work in tandem with us in building the new Sensory Garden, planted with various species of flora known for their ability to stimulate the senses of touch and smell.”  According to Dawson, one of Lennar’s associates agreed to sit on The Center’s board, enabling the national homebuilder to remain an integral part of and closely connected to The Center’s day-to-day activities.

Lennar’s trade partners who assisted with the Garden build included Ace Fence, Acme Brick, Boral Brick, Bradco, Centurion American Development, Cowboy Construction,
DPIS, Flooring Services / IBS Lighting, Flower Mound Water Blast, IES, LandArt,
Lee Roy Jordan Lumber, MDS Hardware, Owens Corning, R & T Concrete Pumping,
Royal Baths, Sherwin-Williams Paints, Southern Star Concrete, Suncoast Post-Tension,
