July 25, 2011 - PRLog -- John Palmer Art has named Outreach United as its 2011 Charity of the Year.  Outreach United is a Houston-based 501(c)(3) non-profit organization whose mission is devoted to using art, festivities and social events to raise funds and distribute those funds to organizations and individuals resulting in the creation of a conduit for social awareness, understanding and tolerance for all.  John Palmer Art applauds Outreach United for its many years of devotion in raising funds and awareness for Houston organizations in need of help.

Artist and Owner John Ross Palmer thinks the honor is clearly well-deserved. "I have followed along closely with Outreach's incredible enthusiasm in promoting events that raise much-needed funds for organizations devoted to helping my GLBT community.  Even in a tough economy when donations and grants begin to dry up, Outreach still manages to achieve great success in raising funds because of its hard work, inventive marketing and partnering with highly respected local business," says Palmer.

Outreach United is equally pleased to receive this high distinction.  Outreach Board of Directors President Gary Wood is "absolutely thrilled that John Palmer Art would honor us with this award.  I have been a personal fan of Palmer's artwork for many years--and I know that he has assisted in raising hundreds of thousands of dollars over the years for Houston charities.  To be selected as his business' 2011 Charity of the Year is very meaningful for us and at the same time terribly exciting!"

For being John Palmer Art's Charity of the Year, a portion of the funds earned at Palmer's Black-tie Gala on October 15, 2011 will be given to Outreach United.  Further, the John Palmer Art Gallery & Studio will host a kick-off party in advance of Outreach's Fall art auction and fundraiser.  At this kick-off, Palmer will unveil an original painting to be donated to Outreach's art auction.  Palmer's painting will symbolize hope and the plight of Houston GLBT homeless youth, a cause which Outreach is devoted to helping this year.
