July 25, 2011 - PRLog -- Ashford Publishing is excited to announce that Dr. Wesley F. Buchele, author and Agricultural Engineering Educator, will be continuing his radio series on-air July 27TH at 12PM EST with our host Rob Michaels on Ashford Radio.  

Dr. Buchele earned his  B.S. in Agricultural Engineering from Kansas State University; his M.S. in Agricultural Engineering with a minor in Engineering Mechanics from the University of Arkansas; and his Ph.D. in Agricultural Engineering and Soil Physics with a minor in Mechanical Engineering from Iowa State College (later, University. )Dr. Buchele also served his country in the U. S. Army Artillery and Infantry where he was stationed in the Pacific.  

After his service, Dr. Buchele acted as a junior engineer at the John Deere Waterloo Works. From there he returned to academia and became an Assistant Professor at the University of Arkansas.  He was a Graduate Assistant at Iowa State College where he went on to become an Assistant and then Full Professor.  There he originated many courses including those on Agricultural Safety, the first of their kind taught in the United States.  He was also an Associate Professor at Michigan State University.  Dr. Buchele retired from Iowa State University on June 30, 1989.  

In addition to his national educational experience, he has acted as an international visiting lecturer at countless universities including the University of Science and Technology, Ghana; University of The Philippines; University of Tokyo; Sung Ryan Wan University, Korea; Shenyang University, China; the Ministry of Agriculture, Moscow, Russia, among many others.

Dr. Buchele has been a consultant for almost 60 years for organizations such as The U.S. Steel Corporation, The Land Locomotion Laboratory, The Soil Division of the U.S. Army Waterways Experiment Station, General Motors Technical Center and The United States Agency for International Development, just to name a few.

Dr. Buchele was a member of many prominent national and state organizations including the Society of Automotive Engineers, the International Society on Terrain-Vehicle Systems and the National Institute of Agricultural Engineers in England.

Dr. Buchele has been granted over 20 patents by the U. S. government, the most well known being the patent for a, "machine for Forming and Handling Large Round Bales of a Fibrous Material." Additionally, Dr. Buchele is the published author and co-author to over 200 technical articles as well as 18 books including, “Just Call Us Lucky,” which he wrote with his brother Luther Buchele.  Dr. Buchele also has a seven series collection of papers with the Special Collections Department of Iowa State University detaining his correspondence, films, professional activities, papers, patents, class materials and biographical information.
