Elvis Presley Licensed For Restaurants In Eastern Europe

“Elvis American Diner” to feature décor inspired by the King of Rock ‘n’ Roll

July 25, 2011 - PRLog -- MEMPHIS, TN – Elvis Presley Enterprises Inc. has licensed the EAD International Group for Elvis Presley themed restaurants in Eastern and Central Europe.  Possible locations for the themed restaurants include Albania, Macedonia, Serbia, Georgia, Lithuania, Latvia, Ukraine, Hungary, Slovakia, Poland, Czech Republic, Romania, Greece, Turkey and Russia, among others.

"Elvis American Diner" is a unique restaurant concept featuring an upscale food court dining experience along with décor inspired by Elvis Presley. The decor, artwork, food selections and music will present a uniquely “American” dining experience.

“Post communist European and Asian nations are rapidly evolving and exposure to Western culture is affecting consumer behavior,” says Eyal Elboim, chairman of EAD International. “Consumers in these areas missed much of the popular culture during Elvis’ career and now they are discovering him and his work through his music, movies and online.”

Two “Elvis American Diner” restaurants are currently in operation. The first is in Eastern European Georgia in the National Philharmonic Building on Tbilisi’s main avenue and the second is in Tbilisi’s new amusement park. A third is currently under development in the leading new shopping mall in that city.

EAD’s dining philosophy values outstanding culinary experiences and high levels of hospitality. Each restaurant in the group serves premium hamburgers, deli sandwiches, New York Pizza, hand scooped ice-cream and other specialty menu items prepared with only the best ingredients.  EAD restaurants feature a counter where customers can watch most of the grilled, stir-fried or oven baked foods being prepared. A unique combination of fast food and table service, along with an eclectic tabletop consisting of chinaware, silverware and glassware, adds to the uniqueness of the EAD dining experience.

“Since the beginning of his career, Elvis has had a strong international following,” said Jack Soden, President and CEO of Elvis Presley Enterprises, Inc. “And, we’ve seen his popularity continue to grow, especially in recent years. We believe this is partially because of the increase in exposure by an international audience to Elvis’ music and movies through social networking and the internet.”

Recent examples of Elvis’ international popularity include the following:

•Elvis Presley was recently declared a posthumous honorary citizen of Budapest, Hungary, and a city park was named after him by Budapest Mayor Istvan Tarlos.

•Edison Pena was among a group of miners trapped in a mine in San Jose, Chile.  After requesting Elvis Presley music, he became known around the world as a fan. Following his rescue from the mine, Pena appeared on many television programs around the world, including “Late Night with David Letterman” which included Pena’s impromptu performance of an Elvis song.  He visited Graceland for the Elvis Presley Birthday Celebration in January.

•Recently, Elvis Presley's hit "A Little Less Conversation" was licensed for a television commercial promoting a Japanese brand canned coffee.

•A commercial for the Irish National Lottery featured Elvis' hit song "Pocketful of Rainbows" and depicted people in Ireland waking up to a rainbow over a waterway, with the tagline "Making Magic Happen."

•Elvis fans "down under" loved the new TV commercial by Schweppes Australia for its juice brand Spring Valley. The animated ad featured the King of Rock 'n' Roll's song "Spring Fever." Elvis recorded it in 1964 for the film "Girl Happy."

•50,000 Elvis fans gathered in Hyde Park in London for an Elvis tribute concert hosted by Priscilla Presley and BBC Radio 2’s Chris Evans and included entertainment by Tom Jones, Suzi Quatro, Scouting for Girls and others.

•The recent European tour of Elvis Presley In Concert sold out huge venues like O2 Arena in London.
