July 25, 2011 - PRLog -- DETROIT, M.I. – Michigan Buick dealers understand the importance of staying connected whether with companies consumers trust or with family and friends. Recently, General Motors announced the addition of Facebook connectivity to its Buick and GMC websites. Being able to share the process of car buying is an activity GM wanted to be able to give to its loyal consumers.
The most important reason for integrating Facebook is allowing shoppers to interact with friends and family while being able to receive feedback about their choices.
“We recognize that car buyers are not only looking for product information when shopping for their next car or truck but also use feedback from friends and family to help narrow down their selection,” said John Schwegman, U.S. vice president of GMC Marketing, in a General Motors press release.
With the new connectivity, customers will be able to save the vehicle options and features they have configured and share their comments easily. This may enhance the personal shopping experience by offering such a simple way for family members and friends to be a part of the process.
Michigan Buick dealers have learned a study was conducted by Beresford Research. It discovered that the responses included confirmation that half of the respondents share their information on their own personal social network sites before making a final purchase decision. Michigan Buick dealers also have Facebook pages, which regularly include interactions with fans as customers can learn more not only about the vehicles but also about the retailers that sell them.
General Motors has also seen new Apps visit the Apple community with GMC’s Showroom Mobile App. The new App allows shoppers to explore vehicle photos and videos and even configure the vehicles to each shopper’s own specifications. Soon Buick will launch its own App as well to move its customers closer to complete connectivity.

With different options and features being offered to shoppers such as greater connectivity, it will be easier for family and friends to be a part of something as large as a vehicle purchase. Consumers may enjoy being able to share their car wish list with the touch of a button.
