Chinese Tactics Anthem now on China's Gamebox with a competition to pit gamers in China vs Singapore

Tactics Anthem and three other Singapore titles on China’s Gamebox targets China International Broadcasting Network of 60 million users, with a competition to be held between the best of China and Singapore by year-end.

July 26, 2011 - PRLog -- Singapore. The Chinese Edition of Tactics Anthem, will soon be opened to gamers in China through a collaborative effort between Singapore’s Cybersports and Online Gaming Association (SCOGA) and China International Broadcasting Network (CIBN). Announcing this during a Press Conference in Chinajoy 2011, a spokesman from the Media Development of Singapore (MDA) revealed that the ‘Gamebox’ ( will allow Chinese players to experience games which have received good feedback in Singapore, and he thanked CIBN for helping to introduce these games to its gamer base of 60million registered users and beyond.

The Gamebox will be showcased as part of Singapore’s inaugural participation at the 9th China Digital Entertainment Expo & Conference 2011, signaling Singapore’s growing interest to cultivate the Chinese games market. To promote the Singapore games available on the portal, MDA and CIBN are also organising an inaugural Singapore-China Game Box Championship 2011 where Chinese gamers will be rewarded for mastering the four games on the Gamebox, namely Rocketbirds: Revolution!, Straw Hat Samurai: Duels, Fish-a-Fish and Tactics Anthem Online II. Gamers are free to sign up for the China leg of the trans-national competition that will be held in Wuhan in early November. Four top players will then be selected to represent China in the Singapore grand finals and they stand to win RMB 30,000 yuan in prizes on top of an all-expenses-paid trip to Singapore end November.

Mr Wang Ping, chairman of CIBN, added: “This collaboration is a mark of the deepening partnership we have with Singapore in the digital media space which we have been cultivating since 2009. We are happy to partner MDA in hosting the Singapore-China Game Box Championship and extending full infrastructure support in the establishment of this portal so that our Chinese gamers can truly experience gaming without borders.”.

Tactics Anthem was originally coded in English. To facilitate its localization into Chinese, besides the language translation, some images have also been changed to suit the taste of the Chinese audience. It is envisaged that when the full system is up, players from the US can play against players in China through the Singapore portal. The US player will see the China player’s cards in English while the Chinese player will see the US player’s cards in Mandarin. iCELL is also looking at including automatic translation service so that during chat sessions, players can converse in their native language in the same session.
