IndependentInvestor.co.uk Workshop on Financial Spread Betting on Bonds and Its Effectiveness

This strategy has been marked by a lot of positivity all be it there have been various fundamental questions of effectiveness and strategic importance of spread betting on bonds asked by inquisitive investors. Just to shed some light on the whole issue, leading financial markets have been involved in a lot of sensitization workshops and a recently concluded workshop on bond spread betting, organized by IndependentInvestor.co.uk in London,  the effectiveness of the trade was well discussed.

During the workshop it was noted unanimously that bond spread betting was more or less approachable like any other trade only that investors taking the bonds trade will have to be weary of some considerations and as it was put in black and white by Daniel Harrison, the workshop’s guest speaker and investment guru on British spread betting discussed the main difference that made spread betting (http://www.independentinvestor.co.uk/spread-betting/) on bonds unique from other assets was the approach taken and how it defined terminologies such as price.  Harrison moved on to note with huge concern that the options offered to bond spread betting investors had to either be based on short interest rates or better still long interest rates.

Proceeding enthusiastically with his remarks, the experienced guest speaker was crystal clear in observing that the effectiveness of bond spread betting wholly depended upon the approach the investor would prefer to take on, but even more crucially, Harrison saw no huge difference between trading on short-term interest rates and long-terms interest rates, stating that each had its own strong points. Moving on to the issue of effectiveness, Harrison was sure to note, “As with any investment product, bond spread betting like any trade within monetary markets had its own opportunities and risks.  Remember that the golden rules involved in other investment products were still valid here.”

Finishing on a lighter note however, Mr. Harrison was enthusiastic in assurance to investors attending the workshop that bond spread betting was just another option to take in financial trade to diversify their portfolios, and use due diligence when developing their spread betting strategies ( http://www.independentinvestor.co.uk/spread-betting/tradi...), and risk management in this derivative and all other capital bearing products.
