July 21, 2011 - PRLog -- Dynamic changes in the global economy are prompting a new approach in management education, according to Seattle Biz Coach Terry Corbell.

“The financial meltdown, sub-prime crisis and slow economic recovery are catalysts that are triggering consideration of new curricula at the graduate business school level,” writes Mr. Corbell on his portal, The Biz Coach – Proven Solutions for Maximum Profits (http://www.bizcoachinfo.com).

“Graduates are being made ready to face real-world challenges,” he writes.

He salutes a conference in Ahmedabad, India on Friday, July 22. Thirty business schools, including Harvard Business School, are collaborating with Indian business schools.

“They want to become more relevant for students in contemporary business issues,” he explains. He cites  the Economic Times in an article, “B-Schools plan course revamp for industry-ready graduates.”

The article states the collaboration is a first for business schools. It also states Harvard is focusing on ethics and teamwork instead of case studies – competence and character are finally more important than networking.

Why the conference?

To brainstorm on critical thinking and experiential exercises for business-school students so they can be logical in solving problems.

Mr. Corbell refers to two glaring facts because the MBA degree is under assault.

For example:

• Aside from the top 15 schools in the last decade, enrollment has plummeted 25 to 30 percent and as much as 50 percent at European and U.S. programs.

• Employers have discouraged employees from pursuing full-time MBA studies.
