eCloudManager now with GLUE 2.0-Support

Due to the very successful collaboration between fluid Operations and the TU Dortmund University, the eCloudManager delivers support for information provisioning using the GLUE 2.0 Format.

July 20, 2011 - PRLog -- Walldorf – As of today the fluidOps eCloudManager delivers support for information provisioning using the GLUE 2.0 Format. The underlying schema of this format is the model for representing resources and their properties and is used in numerous grids, including the Open Science, LHC, and D-Grid.

This represents the result of a very successful collaboration between fluid Operations, the leading provider of semantic technologies and cloud management and automation solutions, and the TU Dortmund University, as part of the D-Grid IaaS Project. The project was started in July 2010 and is sponsored by the German Ministry of Research and Development.

The converter utilizes the data gathered from the eCloudManager information system, converts it into GLUE 2.0 format, and forwards it to a client, such as the D-MON client from D-Grid. The resources managed with the eCloudManager are thereby seamlessly integrated in the D-Grid information system.

“With the addition of this converter, the eCloudManager is currently the only cloud solution available on the market which supports the GLUE 2.0 format. This represents a great success for fluid Operations.” said Marcel Risch, Research & Development Architect at fluid Operations.

The D-Grid laaS Project contributes to the D-Grid initiative, which aims to provide scientists in Germany with unified access to geographically distributed locations for supercomputing power, since the use of high performance computers is now one of the prerequisites for valid research results in many scientific disciplines – from climate research to medicine.
