Over 800 Bicyclists Journey Through Long Island’s Gold Coast In Charitable Bike Tour
Huntington Bicycle Club’s “Gold Coast Tour” Takes Riders Through Five Scenic Courses & 16 Long Island Towns
The Gold Coast Tour, which officially kicked off at 7:00 am from Greenlawn, NY, took cyclists through the Long Island towns of Huntington, Cold Spring Harbor, Laurel Hollow, Oyster Bay, Locust Valley, Roslyn, Old Westbury, Brookville, Oyster Bay Harbor, Mill Neck Bay, Sea Cliff, Glen Cove, Bayville, Muttontown, Greenlawn and Centerport. Money raised from the charitable bike tour will be donated to the Head Injury Association as well as the League of American Bicyclists.
“The Gold Coast Tour is one of the Huntington Bicycle Club’s most anticipated events each year,” said Tracy Riedinger, President, Huntington Bicycle Club. “The five different tours enable cyclists of all levels to experience some of the most beautiful and challenging roads on Long Island.”
Purolator International, the leading provider of U.S./Canadian logistics services, with U.S. offices on Long Island, partnered with the Huntington Bike Club to support today’s tour. "We are very pleased to support the Huntington Bicycle Club's Gold Coast Tour," said John Costanzo, President, Purolator International. "Here in the US, Purolator International, and our parent company, Purolator Inc., based in Canada, are strong supporters of the environment. The Gold Coast Tour takes bicycle enthusiasts on five scenic rides of Long Island's historic Gold Coast where they can enjoy the beautiful hills, harbors and views of the North Shore - a superb and unique facet of the Long Island environment."
“Thank you to all of our sponsors who came out to support this year’s Gold Coast Tour,” continued Reidinger. Tour sponsors include Purolator International, King Kullen Grocery Co., P&B Heating & Air Conditioning, Industrial Instrumentation, Canterbury Ales, Wish Physical Therapy, Bike Works, Bicycle Planet, Brands Cycle & Fitness, Cycles Plus, Road Worx, Blistex, Slow-Mag and TD Bank.
Head Injury Association, a charitable beneficiary of the Gold Coast Tour, is recognized for its innovative residential and family support programming for survivors of head injury, and seeks to increase public awareness of traumatic brain injuries and its consequences. “We are thankful to the Huntington Bicycle Club, to Purolator International and to all of the other sponsors, who came together to support today’s event,” said Liz Giordano, CEO of the Head Injury Association. “Unfortunately thousands of bicyclists, pedestrians and automobile drivers suffer from traumatic brain injuries each year. The Head Injury Association provides programs to help victims achieve individualism, independence, integration and productivity in their lives.”
