July 13, 2011 - PRLog -- There is so much trouble in the world today, we would be crazy to say that one person, one rally, one movement can make a difference. The goal of this Peace Rally is to change at least one person’s mind about buying, using and carrying a fire arm.

There has been a steady stream of violence amongst youth all year which seemed to have reached it’s pinnacle during the shooting on the boardwalk of Brighton Beach that left one young lady dead (Tasha Jones) and 4 wounded in Brooklyn New York.


L.A.C.E.S. Inc (Ladies About Creating Excellence & Success)njmk in association with www.checkmatenewyork.com will bring together on August 13th at Highland Park in Brooklyn NY all those that have lost a loved one to street violence, as well as all those who are fearful of loosing one as well, to come join for one day of peace and solidarity. To laugh, cry, and make a difference with, and in one another.

The Day’s activities will consist of motivational speakers, games for the kids, food, and information on stopping the violence in our communities. Also performances by legendary artist Chill Will and many, more…

Some of the keynote speakers will include Brooklyn Pastor Darrell Hill, Congressman Ed Towns, as well as other special guest speakers throughout the day, I.E. Policemen, congressmen, parents and family members of slain teenagers all over  New York City, and  the Special invited guests will include Brooklyn Borough President Marty Markowitz , Rev Al Sharpton and Russell Simmons

The main purpose of this event is to help the youth of today to become better decision makers of tomorrow. To assist in that effort, L.A.C.E.S. Inc in association with www.checkmatenewyork.com will be accepting all donations via www.ladiesofexcellence.net as well as on site the day of the Rally.

A portion of the donated proceeds will go to NY Youth At Risk www.nyyouthatrisk.org a non profit organization whose mission is to decrease the at-risk behavior of youth and to enhance the effectiveness of the people who live and work with them. Youth At Risk currently provides both prevention and intervention services.
