ORC has gone back to the “Futures” with the Canada F3 Futures 2011
An official tournament of the International Tennis Federation, the Canada F3 Futures 2011 will take place at the Ontario Racquet Club starting July 16th.
“With prize money of $15,000 and valuable ATP points on the line, it’s no wonder that five players ranked in the world’s top 500 will be participating.”
Self-described via Twitter as a “wicked cool tennis player”, Canada’s own Peter Polansky will be headlining the main draw of this pro circuit event. Ranked one of the top 5 singles players in the country, this Thornhill resident has won previous Futures tournaments in such exotic locations as El Salvador, Guatemala and Costa Rica. Polansky is currently ranked 246 in the world.
Joining Polansky is team mate Steven Diez, ranked 468, a Toronto-born player currently living in Spain. On the ITF circuit since 2007, he was only recently asked to represent his country of birth by joining Canada’s Davis Cup team in 2010.
Qualifying rounds begin Saturday, July 16th, with the main draw for both doubles and singles beginning Tuesday, July 19th. Doubles finals are the following Saturday, July 23rd, with the singles finals on Sunday, July 24th.
One of the best-regarded tennis clubs in the country, ORC is no stranger to top level tournaments. In June, the club hosted the 2011 ITF Series 2 Birmingham Canadian Tennis Classic, an international wheelchair tennis tournament. From August 7th to 12th, 2011, ORC hosts the Rogers U18 Junior National Championships.
