ICT charging and security expert responds to calls for video gaming in the classroom

LapSafe® Products launches USB Charging Case

July 13, 2011 - PRLog -- The UK’s ICT charging and security expert has responded to the Government’s call to introduce educational video gaming into the classroom by launching a portable case to charge gaming devices en masse.

Developed by LapSafe® Products, the USB Charging Case can be configured to store and charge most USB devices, including the Nintendo DSi. The USB charger for multiple devices has been designed for ease of use and features 16 individual built-in cables to charge a maximum of 16 gaming or other USB products.

Addressing the Royal Society in London at the beginning of July, the Education Secretary, Michael Gove, emphasised that computer games should have a place in the modern curriculum and cited games developed by Marcus Du Sautoy, a maths professor at Oxford University. The games are designed to allow pupils to actively engage in maths and science.

In his keynote speech, Gove said: “When children need to solve equations in order to get more ammo to shoot the aliens, it is amazing how quickly they can learn. I am sure that this field of educational games has huge potential for maths and science teaching.”

Denise Cole, Director at LapSafe® Products, believes that the USB Charging Case can bring real benefits to educational professionals and those that they teach. She said: “The Education Secretary is keen for schools to experiment with technology, and we have been helping teachers and pupils with this endeavour for the last eleven years.

“Teachers now have a wealth of technology at their disposal, from electronic devices to free online resources, and we never ceased to be amazed at the creative and innovative ways that they use ICT to teach. Educational video games are yet another interactive way to aid learning, and I’m pleased that LapSafe® Products is able to provide a safe way for gaming devices to be charged.”

The USB Charging Case from LapSafe® Products enables teachers to bring educational gaming to students of all ages by charging all devices simultaneously in the quickest possible time. Each charging lead within the USB Charging Case/DSi Charger uses low voltage (5 volts) charging, and is individually fused for safety. Manufactured to meet all British safety standards, the USB charging device is also supplied with a two meter mains lead with a 5amp fuse. As with all products manufactured under the LapSafe® brand, the USB Charging Case/DSi charger is independently CE Certified.
