July 13, 2011 - PRLog -- As a full-service online concierge service for boaters, Marinalife has added a new feature to give members and mariners yet another reason to consider the site their one-stop-shop for cruise planning and reservations. Navigation Notices are the newest service offered free to boaters giving them regular updates on regional cruising areas from the West Coast to the Great Lakes, East Coast and the Bahamas/Caribbean.

To offer this new service, Marinalife partnered with Chuck Baier, a familiar name in boating and a respected resource who has a reputation for providing accurate and relevant waterway updates. Chuck maintains a host of waterway updates and summarizes them as email alerts for Marinalife members. The notices focus on seven popular cruising regions: West Coast, Great Lakes, New England, Mid-Atlantic, New England, the Southeast and the Bahamas/Caribbean. In response to member requests, Marinalife provides members the opportunity to select a specific region about which they would like to receive updates or they can receive notices on all cruising regions if interested.

In addition to the email notice, all regional updates are available for review on marinalife.com. Navigation Notices are tied in with the nautical chartviewer on marinalife.com allowing boaters to view on the chart exactly where a problem or navigation alert exists. This real-time integration of chart and notification data empowers boaters with the ability to monitor navigation issues as they travel. Navigation Notices were announced to members in mid-June and already over 15,000 boaters are receiving regular waterway updates.

Chuck has owned and operated motor and sailing vessels for over 45 years and he and his wife Susan have cruised extensively in the U.S., Bahamas, Northern and Western Caribbean. After living aboard a sailboat for almost 17 years, they now live aboard their 34-foot Marine Trader trawler, Beach House, based in Ft. Myers, Florida. He says, “As an active boater for many decades, I have always believed in the tradition of the sea … to help your fellow mariner. It is my goal to help make boating as safe and pleasurable an experience for others as it has been for me.”

“We are excited to have Chuck as part of our Marinalife team,” says Joy McPeters, CEO of Marinalife. In addition to providing navigation updates, Chuck is also a contributing writer to Marinalife Magazine and will represent Marinalife on the Florida West Coast.
Marinalife members are also excited to have Chuck Baier on the team. One member shared, “Again, I repeat that Marinalife is so, so lucky! You helped us take our boat all the way down the East Coast of the USA!!! You should be in charge of all of the Eastern seaboard. We plan to go south again this year and look forward to your excellent information and advice.”
