AAW-PEACE Conference Unites Women Worldwide from Africa to North America

Liberian President, H.E. Ellen Johnson-Sirleaf and the Honorable Robert L. Johnson to Serve as Chair and Honorary Chair for two-day event in Liberia, West Africa.

July 13, 2011 - PRLog -- Washington, DC  -  In his address to the Ghanaian Parliament in 2009, President Barack Obama reminded the people of Africa that it would no longer be the great men of the past who would transform the continent, but “the future of all of our countries is in the hands of the young people – people like you.”  The African & American Women in Entertainment for Peace, Youth Empowerment and Cultural Exchange (AAW-PEACE) Conference aspires to accomplish that goal by leaving a lasting impression on the country of Liberia.

From September 2-4, 2011, the AAW-PEACE Conference will engage in a bi-continental effort to bridge women around the world from Africa to North America in entertainment and politics, as they engage in panel and roundtable discussions and workshops; thereby, providing the necessary and essential tools for future leaders of Liberia to succeed.   Additionally, the two-day event will act as a catalyst for the Creative Arts & Minds Programs (CAM), an after-school development program for performing and creative arts and micro-credit to encourage and support young entrepreneurs.

‎"We are at a very crucial stage in developing young minds in Liberia and creating avenues to expand their horizons and dreams”, states Barkue Tubman, Founder of AAW-PEACE.”  “Through continuous efforts, I envision combining my passion for connecting youths in Liberia and globally through entertainment and networking with women leaders, while accessing my compassion for humanity.”

AAW-PEACE Conference producers have invited experts in the U.S. entertainment industry, law and politics, diplomacy, and business to create a captivating and unprecedented program of events.  Other prominent business leaders of Liberia and beyond in West Africa will play a primary role in constructing a blueprint on how to effectively navigate and implement a business or educational initiative.

Her Excellency Ellen Johnson-Sirleaf, President of the Republic of Liberia, proudly accepted the invitation via letter to serve as Chair of the Conference. [Read entire letter from the President]- http://www.aawpeace.org/pdfs/presidentsLetter.pdf.
