July 12, 2011 - PRLog -- Greenwood Village, CO -- July 12, 2011 -- Colorado State Representative Joe Miklosi today officially declared his candidacy for Colorado’s 6th congressional district.

Representative Miklosi will run in the November 2012 election against incumbent Mike Coffman. The 6th congressional district will be changing in December 2011 due to redistricting and becoming more competitive.

“I’m running for Congress because I want to restore job growth, restore economic growth, and help more Coloradoans achieve their unique version of the American Dream, such as owning a home, starting a business or attending college,” said Representative Miklosi, who also works at Project C.U.R.E. in Centennial, Colorado.

“I will focus on creating more educational and economic opportunities, such as assistance to small business owners for accessing loans, creating jobs, and growing their businesses,” said Miklosi.

Representative Miklosi will champion efforts to:

•   Help create good paying, private sector jobs, especially in the renewable energy sector
•   Protect Medicare and Social Security
•   Balance the budget responsibly by closing excessive corporate loopholes
•   Promote freedom from foreign oil and work towards energy independence

“I’m fighting to make Colorado the Renewable Energy Capital of the Country, honor our commitment to Social Security and Medicare, insist on fair trade with China, and focus on world-class schools that emphasize critical thinking skills, not standardized tests, so our students can compete and win in the global economy,” said Representative Miklosi.

Representative Miklosi brings a well-rounded professional and civic background to the race. In addition to three years of legislative experience working across party lines to get things done in the Colorado House of Representatives, his career includes six years of business development experience, where he helped start an Internet software company, nearly four years working at Project C.U.R.E. in Centennial, Colorado, which provides life-saving medical supplies to hospitals in 120 developing nations, and 12 years of public policy experience.

“When I was young, I was taught that if you work hard, study hard, and play by the rules, you can achieve your unique version of the American Dream.  Sadly, for too many Coloradoans, they see that dream disappearing because of stagnate wages, increased prices, and debt.  I want to restore job growth and economic growth,” said Representative Miklosi.

Congressman Mike Coffman--a self described Tea Party member--has a very different vision for our country. “Mr. Coffman voted not once, but twice, for two bills that would have destroyed Medicare as we know it.  This would have had grave consequences for many people in the district,” said Representative Miklosi.

The 6th congressional district would have been the 10th most negatively impacted congressional district in the entire country had those bills passed and 74,000 residents would have lost their Medicare and each resident would have had to pay an additional $6,400 a year.

“Mr. Coffman has a record of radical votes,” says Representative Miklosi.

“These are not values I share nor do most Coloradans,” said Miklosi.
