This year’s festival is scheduled for August 10-14, 2011 and offers an action-packed schedule of activities and cultural events. Tickets to FinnFest are $25 for a single day or $99 for five days and can be purchased online at www.finnfest2011.com. Various senior and youth discounts are also available.

“FinnFest 2011 promises to be an exciting summertime event for Finnish-Americans as well as all residents and visitors to the San Diego region,” said Joe Terzi, president and CEO of the San Diego Convention & Visitors Bureau. “The schedule of activities includes diverse entertainment and cultural offerings, sports, authentic foods and more, guaranteeing every member of the family will have a good time.”

FinnFest offers five days of events spanning the spectrum of music, sports, art, film, education, family and business programs. Thousands of North American, local and international visitors are expected to attend the annual event.

A sampling of FinnFest 2011 highlights includes:

•   Music – FinnFest will showcase Finnish folk and traditional music;
•   Art – Exhibitions and lectures about different fields of Finnish art;
•   Film – Finnish film festival, showcasing contemporary Finnish cinema;
•   Business – Business forum featuring cutting edge technology, including Rovio’s Angry Birds, Cloud, Apps and clean technology companies from Finland and San Diego;
•   Family Fun – Traditional arts and crafts for children and adults alike.

•   Black-tie Gala Dinner filled with gourmet delights, inspiring entertainment and an array of special guest appearances, including Finnish celebrity chef, Stefan Richter and international model, Anna Easteden
•   Fashion show showcasing Finnish Marimekko fashion at the Gala Dinner

•   Skateboarding demonstration with professional Finnish skateboarder, Arto Saari
